Introduction

Corticosteroids, both topical and systemic, are common treatments for various skin diseases. Since the discovery of their anti inflammatory and immunosuppressive effects, they have been employed in treating various autoimmune and inflammatory skin conditions. Their common and ubiquitous use has brought several adverse effects both systemic and dermatologic. This chapter will focus on the dermatologic effects of corticosteroids such as hypersensitivity or allergic reactions, direct drug effects, and diseases secondary to immunosuppression.
